Foodie programmes to watch on the box
this week…
Everyone loves a good cooking programme, from watching some of our much
loved chefs to rival amateurs’ in competition to throw the best dinner party in
a ruthless attempt to win the £1000 prize at the end of the week – it has had
many of us entertained for hours. Apart from a regular fix of ‘Come Dine With
Me’, here are a couple more to look out for this coming week:
Jamie’s Summer Food
Rave Up – Monday 16th
July, Channel 4 @8.30pm
A man who has successfully inspired many to pick up an apron with his
intoxicating passion for food combined with his simple and easy-to-do recipes. Summer
in Britain never lasts long, but when it does finally come along we have to
embrace it before it disappears for another long and cold year. In this new
series, Jamie introduces us to a variety of alfresco dishes suitable for the
outdoors, from festivals, picnics, a day at the beach to barbeques in the
garden.
This week, Jamie cooks up some delicious treats ideal for a festival
picnic, including a portable chilli, spit roast chicken and Moroccan burgers –
perfect for a pre/post rave feast.
The Hairy Bikers pies and
pasties - Tuesday 17th
July, BBC 2 @8.30pm
These two culinary reprobates are back on the road and more boisterous
than ever as they journey from one end of the country to the other, cooking and
sampling some of Britain’s much loved pies and pasties. Starting in the South
West, where they cook traditional pasties in an attempt to impress their tough
audience, the Cornish locals, before venturing up to Melton Mowbray to try their
hand at making a pork pie. Their journey then continues further north, cooking
and noshing as they go before finishing off in Scotland where they cook a
salmon coulibiac which will feed the local pipers and Highland dancers.
