Everyone loves a new cocktail…
I love a good cocktail,
especially when I open a menu and discover one I haven’t sipped before. On a
recent trip to Durham to visit my sister for her graduation, I was taken to a
lovely little bar before touring the local student haunts. It was here; I made
the delicious discovery of The Strawmeister, which has had my taste buds
aroused for more ever since. A drink consisting of a German liqueur known as
Jagermeister, made up of 56 herbs and spices. This, known to many of you as the
key ingredient in a Jagerbomb, a drink, also acknowledged as a shot, is
consumed amongst friends on a night ‘on the razz’.
This recipe however, is in a
different league and one I implore you to try using this liqueur in an
alternative combination to the one many of you are used to and with
strawberries currently in season, what better time to shake and sip than the
present.
The Strawmeister
Ingredients:
For 2 cocktails
100g strawberries, pureed in a blender, leave 2 for
decoration
50ml strawberry liqueur
50ml jagermeister
200ml lemonade
Crushed ice
2 long glasses
Cocktail shaker
Method:
Fill the glasses half full with ice.
Put the pureed strawberries, liqueur and
Jagermeister into the shaker and shake.
Empty into the glasses and top up with lemonade.
Finish off with a strawberry on top.
