Valentine's Day - 10 of the best chocolate treats on offer

With Valentine’s Day only a few days away, Gentleman, it’s time to get in on the act (we secretly hope you have already, but Valentine’s wouldn’t be Valentine’s without a last minute dash to Waitrose). Nothing voices the words ‘I love you’ more than a box of chocolates, a big bunch of red roses, a bottle of wine and a corny card signed with a ‘?’, all enjoyed over a romantic, candle lit meal for two and of course, those very words spoken aloud.

As a girl who is rather partial to all things sweet, a good box of chocolates always goes down a treat. Though, as much as I love a box of Cadbury’s Milk Tray, sometimes we yearn for our men to think a little outside the box and go for something different to mark this special day and signify affection for that special someone.

Here are 10 of the best chocolate gifts on offer this Valentine's Day:

Ch0colatiers by appointment of the Monarch (so they must be pretty good!)
Melt hand-painted hollow heart, £17.50 by Melt of London W11 – this handcrafted and hand-painted gift comes complete with a personalised note to your special someone – the most romantic thing to come out of Notting Hill since the movie!
Artisan du Chocolat Peregrine Salted Caramel Collection, £13.50
Why not try some Japanese salted caramel with fruit infusions - because we like all things fruity on this special day…
Fortnum & Mason Silk Bow Heart Box, £125
Now you can never go wrong with something from the Queen’s personal grocers. This classic box of chocolates contains enough sweet bundles of goodness to keep you going until next year
Fortnum & Mason Emma Bridgewater Cup with Chocolates, £40
Two of my favourite thing rolled into one, what’s there not to love??
Godiva porcelain gift box, £45
Over the top extravagance – Valentine’s day in a box!
Hotel Chocolat Sealed With a Kiss collection, £45
This elegant, seductive looking collection offers a little bit of everything, with fun and exciting flavours that will lead the way straight to the heart.
Artisan du Chocolat “Declaration of Romantic Intentions” box, £19.99
These stylish and fragranced chocolates will speak the words that don’t always come out.

Charbonnel et Walker Vintage Collection Heart, £75
For the old-fashioned romantics

Lastly, the local recommendation: Benjamin Chocolatier, Gloucestershire

Elegant handcrafted chocolates made with natural ingredients and by using a unique method,  produce exceptional flavour and quality:

Silk Road Collection, £15.95
Evoking spices and aromas to set the tone for the rest of the evening
Laurent Perrier Rosé & Raspberry Chocolates, £78.95
Most girls love all things pink, drinks that fizz and enriched chocolatey goodness, so surely this would be the ultimate winning gift of indulgence and pure luxury that will put the smile on her face on Valentine’s Day.
